I started my career as a business data analyst at a local bank, managing process management projects and reporting to corporate banking heads. But after three years of crunching numbers with little sense of purpose, I made a bold switch into teaching—a decision that changed my life.
As a Math Olympiad instructor, I discovered the joy of helping students overcome challenges and realize their potential. After eight rewarding years, my second pregnancy inspired me to start my own tuition business. It wasn’t easy at first, but through persistence and word of mouth, my PSLE Math workshops became fully booked.
Then Covid-19 struck. My income was affected, but thanks to earlier planning, I had savings to rely on. But looking around, I saw my own family members, friends and community struggle.
This made me realise the importance of preparation—not just for today, but for the future. It also dawned on me that while I was helping students with Math, their parents needed help with a different kind of “math”—planning their legacy.
